Gujarat State School Service Commission
Bill-2013 passed again
Gandhinagar, 3 October 2013

The Gujarat assembly today passed the “Gujarat State
School Service Commission Bill-2013 ” again. The state
government on Tuesday had tabled this bill in the
assembly. The bill aims to establish a state school
service commission for recruitment of teachers and
headmasters for registered private secondary and higher
secondary schools, including private schools receiving
grants in aid from the state government.
Earlier, in August, the bill was rejected by Gujarat
governor Dr Kamla Beniwal. The Governor had
suggested a rethink on the composition of the said
commission. The Governor had said that if the objective
was to provide good quality teachers in schools, the
provisions should have been applicable to all categories
of schools, irrespective of whether they are owned by
public trusts or by the state government or by local
bodies or by minority trusts and just the schools owned
by public trusts. Click here to download
